Harriman Ski

Posted in Adventure by sarasheehy on 28 November 2009

It is officially ski season here in the Wood River Valley.  Both Sun Valley and the Blaine County Recreation District trails are open and groomed – just about three weeks earlier than last year!  So on this Thanksgiving, I had a lot of be thankful for.

Today I did some shooting on the Harriman Trail north of Ketchum.  The Harriman Trail is a 31km trail that runs from the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters to Galena Lodge at Galena summit.  The trail is named after W. Averell Harriman, who developed Sun Valley in in the 1930′s.  It is an old railroad bed, which makes the trail wide, and perfect for grooming for both classic and skate skiing.

Here are a few of the images I captured today.  You can also see one more over on Jeff and I’s challenge blog - Two a Day for Thirty Days.

Happy Thanksgiving

Posted in Home Life by sarasheehy on 26 November 2009

Happy Thanksgiving blog readers!

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for a beautiful place to live, copious amounts of snow, friends both near and far, my incredible family, and my amazingly amazing fiancee, Mike.

I hope your day is full of good food, good friends or family (and if you’re really lucky, both!), and good health.

An image of mine was recently featured in the blog Fetch, which is on Sun Valley Magazine’s website.  The image was taken during a series of two photo shoots last winter with my friend Jenna and her two Portuguese Water dogs, Tasman and Millie.  A few more images from the shoots can be found below.

Christmas Card Shoot

Posted in Home Life by sarasheehy on 25 November 2009

This past weekend we had a nice snowstorm, which hopefully marks the beginning of a long, snowy winter.

In honor of the beautiful snow (and because we needed images for our holiday card!) we did a photo shoot in front of our property’s big red barn.  Here’s a couple images from the day – ones that didn’t make the cut for the Christmas card!

Two a Day Times Thirty Days

Posted in Home Life by sarasheehy on 1 November 2009

My buddy Jeff and I started a month-long photo challenge today – an image a day with our truly crappiest cameras.  To check out our November of madness, go to our webpage – http://jeffsara.wordpress.com.

Our first challenge, before even starting the month, was to take a self portrait with our crappiest cameras in the shot.  Taking a leaf out of the book of Miss Aniela, I created a composite inside my home office space.  Now all I need is an alter-ego name…
