Snowman Franconia

Franconia keeping guard at Deer Creek.  I call this her “snowman pose” as she gets bigger in increments from her head to her butt.

Happy weekend!  I have a house guest coming into town – what are you up to?

Almost Done

My amazing husband-to-be just before the finish at the Galena Grinder.

The High Life

My volunteer duty at the Galena Grinder was to sit at the very last trail junction and call out racer’s numbers to the timing booth at the finish.  This allowed the timing booth to announce the finisher’s name as they completed.  About halfway through my duty the race director, Marc, delivered me an ice cold Miller High Life.  I was understandably excited.

Marathon Racers

The marathon race at the Galena Grinder was a grueling 45 miles.  The winner completed the race in a nauseating 3 hours and 39 minutes.

Galena Grinder

Congratulations to all the riders in the Galena Grinder!  Caught this shot as the pro, expert and sport riders were leaving the start.

Wildflowers at Galena

Wildflowers edging the trail in the Galena Lodge trail system.

Have a great weekend!  I’ll be heading back up north to watch my husband-to-be compete in the Galena Grinder, look for mountain biking shots next week!

Yankee Fork

A view from a high ridge looking down into the Yankee Fork drainage.  I’m cheating – this image was taken by my fiancée Mike.

Road Less Traveled, Galena

A two-track mountain bike trail along Cherry Creek in the Galena trail system.  A slice of the Pioneer Mountains can be seen in the background.

Biking and Sheep

Happy Monday!  What did you get up to this weekend?

On Sunday I headed to Galena Lodge to mountain bike some of the shorter trails while Mike did a test run of the Galena Grinder course, which he’ll race in next weekend.  At one point, I eased my bike (Gisele) through a band of grazing sheep.

Mike, Salmon River

Mike overlooking the Salmon River at dusk, just outside Stanley.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Pettit Lake

Pettit Lake, located in the Sawtooth Mountains.

Bonanza Mining Cemetary

Driving up the Yankee Fork of the Salmon River takes one through two defunct mining towns – Bonanza and Custer.  This unknown grave was located at the Bonanza Cemetary.

Lemhi, Pettit Lake

My dog Lemhi, doing what he loves best, at Pettit Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains.

Dusk on the Salmon

Weekend Break

I am headed out camping/exploring this weekend, and won’t be posting.  On the other hand, I will be loading up with images to share!

In an attempt to get on a regular blogging schedule, I plan to post M-F and take the weekends off.

Have a great weekend!

Night Fern

A fern covered in dew, taken at night.  Camera was tripod mounted.

Parades and Horses

Last year I photographed the Hailey 4th of July parade, this year I was in it!  I had the privilege of riding Latigo, a Peruvian Paso.

Wildflower Season

We are just on the cusp of wildflower season here in Sun Valley.

Happy Birthday D40!

Today is the three year anniversary of my very first DSLR purchase, a Nikon D40.  I still use the little D40 if I’m out and about and want something small – like when I’m hiking or skiing.

Here’s an image from 7/6/2007.

Sea of Sheep

At Lava Lake’s trailing through Hailey.

Hailey’s 4th

The 4th of July in Hailey is something spectacular.  This year we’ll be at Sorry for Partying in Fairfield, but last year we fully imbibed in Hailey’s festivities – criterion, parade, rodeo, and the shootout.  What will you be doing this 4th?

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you are enjoying a fun 4th of July weekend.  Perhaps you’ll do some grilling?  Mike grills excellent lamb ribs.

Black Face

A black faced sheep passing through Hailey on June 12th.  It takes a crew to get them through town, and I got to help the staff at Lava Lake make it happen!
