Reflection

Last year at this time we had snow. Soon!

Have a great weekend.

Surprise Valley, Lemhi

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you have as many adventures as Lemhi – he loves a good hike. Surprise Valley, 2009.

First Snow, 2009

One year ago today we had our first winter snow storm. Hard to believe, considering this weekend was in the high 80′s!

Have a fiery weekend!

Windy Summit

We didn’t get to stay too long on the summit of Phi Kappa, we were driven down by the overwhelming wind. This is my favorite image from the day – a wind flying Mike against Devil’s Bedstead.

Have a great weekend!

Phi Kappa Shale

Phi Kappa‘s ridge line is composed entirely of break-apart-ankle-bending shale. For all it’s treachery, it is still beautiful.

False Summit

Phi Kappa tricked me a few times with false summits (or more, I only wished they were summits so I could get off that ridge!).  Mike blends in really well with rock here, but this was on Phi Kappa’s first “false summit.”

Phi Kappa Mountain

This weekend we went on a nice long adventure – a hike up Summit Creek to the Summit Creek saddle, then a scramble (as some people might call, a bushwack) to the summit of Phi Kappa Mountain. The scramble was terrifying for it’s height and narrowness, but awesome for it’s views.

Miner Lake

Sunday’s ride took us past two lakes – Prairie Lake, and about two miles of traverse later, to Miner Lake.

Miner Lake was the bigger and more picturesque lake. We didn’t stay too long because everyone was chomping at the bit for the amazing downhill.

Prairie and Miner Group Ride

This weekend I met up with the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association for a group ride to Prairie and Miner Lakes. The group was a good mashup of Boise and Twin Falls riders. I am really starting to enjoy group rides – good people, beautiful riding, and always beer at the end.

The view at our first lake, Prairie Lake.
